Academic Excellence

At Saint Mary Star of the Sea School, academic excellence is more than a goal, it is a daily practice. Our dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and character they need to succeed in school and in life.

Each spring, students in 6th–8th grades have the opportunity to be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. In addition, many of our 8th graders earn the Presidential Awards for Excellence and Achievement, recognizing students who score in the 90th percentile or higher on standardized tests in reading and math from grades 6 through 8. For over 90 years, Saint Mary’s has upheld a reputation for academic rigor and high standards.

Preschool & Primary Grades

  • Preschool: Students are introduced to a variety of stimulating subjects, including the Rowland Reading Foundation’s Superkids Reading Program.

  • Kindergarten: Builds early mastery of academic fundamentals and study skills.

  • Grades 1–3: Strengthen core skills and foster a love of learning, setting the stage for long-term success.

  • Grades 4–5: Engage in a diverse, well-rounded curriculum that expands basic skills, develops critical thinking, and introduces new approaches to learning.

Our middle school program provides rigorous preparation for high school college-prep programs. Parents often share that their children experience great success after graduating from Saint Mary’s, thanks to the strong academic foundation built here.
